El Escorial, Segovia, and Madrid cooking school

Today was one of my favorite days so far. We started our day at El Escorial. It is a palace built by Felipe II.

It was a great tour and we enjoyed a little free-time in San Lorenzo. Our guide, María José was a great sport taking this crazy picture with us!

We then traveled to Segovia. Wow! The Roman aqueduct is definitely the highlight of this city.

We also spent time exploring other sites. Here is the cathedral and the castle. There is so much to see here.

We then went to cooking school. I can’t even describe how much fun it was. This is a real cooking school and we were trained by chefs to make some of the most typical foods in Spanish cuisine.

The best part was eating our meal when we were all done cooking. Everyone was proud of what they were able to make and it turned out delicious. They are bringing home their aprons and a cookbook, so hopefully they’ll be willing to cook for their families when they get home.

Obviously this was a very busy day. We are back at the hotel ready for bed and ready to tour Madrid tomorrow.
